Abstract:

Cooperation project between France and Switzerland aimed at providing an interoperable seamless orthoimagery dataset for the territory of Grand-Genève.

The Republic and Canton of Geneva asked IGNF to edge-match and to mosaic the orthoimagery datasets from IGNF and swisstopo in order to seamlessly cover the whole cross-border (Swiss and French) urban area of Geneva, at a resolution of 20 cm.

This high-resolution dataset was produced in spring 2012 by IGNF, being funded by the Cadastral Surveying Office of the Republic and Canton of Geneva (DMO). It can be used for free by the partners of Grand Genève and it is available through the GeoAgglo geoportal (SITG).

Purpose:

  • Provision of seamless orthoimagery dataset for the cross-border area of Grand Genève.

Benefits:

  • This is an example of interoperability needs across Europe, especially in cross-border areas.

  • The cooperation project illustrates the benefits of the INSPIRE Directive for providing interoperable reference datasets, such as orthoimagery.
